Turtle Jump is a skill-based game that gives players an adorable turtle to take as high up on the endless series of platform steps as they can. The aim is to get as high as you can; bouncing from platform to platform whilst collecting points and attempting to set the worlds highest score. Viewed from the outside, they look lovely, bright pixels bouncing about in joyful unison to a light, lively soundtrack.
But the voyage is a dangerous one. You’ll need to watch out for several monster enemies and nasty spike hazzards that can instantly bring your run to an end. It is a game where you avoid obstacles, and the tension doesn’t let up. A great family friendly game with very simple concept and increasingly difficult challenges that you’ll easily pick up yet find yourself stuck playing / trying to complete.
How to Play
Your goal in this endless jumping game is to jump between cloud platforms to climb as high as you can. Tapping the screen makes your turtle leap. The trick is to get it just right so you land on the next platform without falling or running into an obstacle. The tap to jump main mechanic is what your experience will be based on.
You’ll meet monster enemies as you climb. You can jump on top of them just by timing it right. But you’ll have to avoid touching them sideways or from below and beware of spike hazards. There are a bunch of useful things in this game. The bomb power-up is particularly useful, as it destroys all enemies on the screen. Oh, and you can also grab a shield powerup for invincibility (temporarily) or a jump boost powerup that will let you soar up the screen and rack up more points.
Perhaps some iterations have tap-and-hold for a precision jump but I couldn’t find it in the prototype. Good power-up control and maneuvering the enemy avoidance game elements are key to score successfully.
